Description

Lighted Valley is the true account of the blessed life and death of Abby Bolton (1827-1849), the granddaughter of the acclaimed Rev. William Jay. Her sister recorded these words firstly for their own family members who were not present at Abby's deathbed, but also with the wish that these words would be blessed to all the readers into whose hands this book would fall. It can also be of particular use to those who have ill or suffering family members or friends, those who have lost loved ones, and those who are active in pastoral care.

Author

There is very little known about Rhoda Bolton, the sister who wrote the narrative of Abby’s life and death. She was one of the 13 children of Robert and Anne Bolton (Jay) and granddaughter of the Rev. William Jay, who, as William Jay himself writes, “all of whom have hitherto walked undeviatingly in the way of truth.” Rhoda was an almost constant companion of Abby during her life at Pelham Priory, NY, her last journeys, her search for health, but also her resignation to the will of the Lord in the way that He dealt with her. She wrote this memoir as an encouragement to others who must travel the same pathway and also as a beacon on the way for others, that they too might find God to be a resting place even in the valley of the shadow of death.
